Agate Wind Chimes

Back to Wind Chimes at Jules!

These beautiful chimes incorporate agate slices, high grade monofilament, and in the Star and Moon and Small Chimes, wooden rings. With a lovely sound, they are a beautiful addition to any room! Natural striations make each piece of agate slightly different, sometimes effects the color slightly and sometimes leaves slightly rough edges on the small and large chimes.

These have all now been discontinued! Limited stock remains. : (

Info about Agate:

"Rainbow Agate: This agate is found in caves and veins in limestone and dolomites of Pennsylvanian Age cropping out in bare ridges east of Laramie Peak, one of the most famous landmarks on the Oregon Trail. It is thought to be a steam deposit of white silica containing minute pores that accept color. Legends suggest that each color had a special healing capability. Red – painful thoughts removed;  Blue – helps erase anger; Green – helps problem solving; Violet – erases tension; Orange – enhances positive thinking."

"Turritella Agate: Some 40-60 million years ago, an ancient saltwater sea covered what is now Wyoming. A snail of the Turritella species lived in its shallow waters. The shell of this snail is a small, long, tapering spire with numerous whorls. Today, fossil remains of the Turritella shell are found on the edges of Delaney Rim in south central Wyoming. The shell material has been completely replaced by agate and chalcedony. Agate and chalcedony are names given to a microscopically crystallized variety of quartz – the main component of which is silica. The Turritella agate may be tumbled and polished for weeks to give it a slick and shiny surface. Origin: Wyoming."
