Green Men represent many things in ancient legend; but here, the Green Man is shown as a friar-like protector of nature. Wearing his patched green hooded robe, and carrying his sturdy staff, he serves as a sanctuary for many creatures. Within his robe we see all sorts of hedgerow life, such as bunnies, mice, a cat, a badger, a fox, and more. Even a woodland sprite peers out in safety. Ripe red apples inside and out assure nourishment for all.
