Master Carver Peter Calvesbert carved “Quarles’ Reef” in tribute to HK collector Phyllis Quarles. Seahorses, mermaids and ladybugs are included in the model, as these were some of her favorite subjects. The names of her two Italian Greyhounds, Dino and Tony, are inscribed on the lid. (Gold Edition: The inscription “500” refers to the first 500 special subdued colorway pieces, with 20% of proceeds going to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.) “35” refers to the number of seahorse species and the size of the largest (35 cm).
