This single study toad box figurine was carved to commemorate one of Peter’s very first and still beloved pieces – 'Princely Thoughts'. Like its predecessor, it does not incorporate Peter’s signature hidden mouse or secrets. 'Samsara' derives from the Sanskrit word samsarah, meaning cycle of life. Does this allude to a toad becoming a prince in roundabout homage to 'Princely Thoughts', or is it a broader statement on the meaning of existence? Either way, the lovely simplicity of the piece is without doubt. And some of HK’s earliest collectors may find themselves overwhelmed with nostalgia.
