*12/20/09 I'm convinced my aunt jinxed us.
 She sent out Christmas cards this year saying "Let it Snow!" Easy for her to say when she lives in Southern California!!
Here in West Virginia, we have close to two feet of the cold, messy, pain to shovel stuff.

 *11/18/09 Where has the time gone? I'm absolutely exhausted and it's not even the holidays yet! I think I'm almost done with the latest web site update and I'm so glad since it's way past my bedtime. Before I go, may I suggest you take a look at some of the new goodies I've been working on putting up over the last few days?
*10/4/09 Oh goodness, it's that time again, isn't it? It's Apple Butter Festival time in Berkeley Springs.  Now, don't get me wrong, I enjoy Apple Butter - Festival, Food, the whole nine yards. It's just ... do you realize what that means? It means that it's really truly fall. *giving you a minute to mourn the Summer that went by WAY too fast* I've been wearing sweaters to work, my poor plants are starting to get that wilty shivery look, and the Apple Butter festival is less than a week away. I can't ignore it, it's really fall.
To get ready for the festival I've been stocking up on, well ... everything. We have new Painted Ponies, new Cow Parade, new Harmony Kingdom, new Faeries. It's hard to keep up with everything! Danny has been rearranging and re-doing the displays, trying to fit everything I've ordered in the space available, and he's informed me that he's already been caught telling the Ponies to stay on the shelf by one customer in the last week. She gently pointed out to him that they weren't going to talk back. He was mortified, I thought it was hilarious!
I hope you're enjoying your Fall. I'm going to go put my sweater back on and try to accept that Summer is really over.
 *9/9/09 Busy Busy Busy! This Summer has just flown by, hasn't it? It's so hard to believe it's September already. My wonderful employee Danny is coming back starting Monday, and I'm just thrilled about that, especially since I've been working just about every day for the last few weeks and somehow I still haven't gotten everything done! lol Added to that I've been choreographing Godspell at the New Washington County Playhouse dinner theater in Hagerstown, MD which opens Friday and runs every weekend until the end of October. It's a wonderful show with some great music, great acting and of course fantastic dancing. ; ) So, if I've been a little slow on the updates lately, at least I have a good excuse! With all of that I've still managed to unpack some fabulous new Harmony Kingdom that just arrived like the wonderful Nest Egg pictured above.
*8/6/09 So much new to talk about! New Faeries, New Harmony Kingdom, New Journals, even a new employee to keep track of it all!
Okay, so the neatest thing happened a week or so ago. I was sitting in the store one Sunday working on the web site when a woman walked in, looked around for a few minutes and the approached the desk. "Are you the owner?" she asked. "Yes, can I help you with something?" "Well, I'm Linda Biggs. You sell my faeries? Would you like me to sign some for you?" "Oh my God! YES!!"
She was so sweet and we had such a nice little visit while she signed and dated 1-2 of each of her faeries. If you'd like yours signed, please just add that in the special comments section and we'll do our best to help on a first come first serve basis.

*7/8/09 Whew, I am exhausted! Just got done with mid-year Inventory. That came smack dab in the middle of weighing everything in the store which was loads of fun and has my employees hating me I do believe. LOL Hopefully they'll forgive me eventually, and now I've entered all of those weights so that when you order something shipping is calculated on the weight of your item instead of some random number I pull out of the air. ; ) Now, this is still a work in progress, my wonderful shopping cart servers have a bazillion options I'm wading through. The first time I loaded the options shipping on a $20 item came up as $52 which made me scream and go running back to see what I did wrong, so it's safe to say there are still a few bugs to work out! Hopefully they won't be too jarring, but if anything like that happens to you, PLEASE shoot me an e-mail and let me know! Also please don't forget that shipping weights are estimated, although we've done our best to get it as close as possible.
Two projects down, what's next?
 *6/25/09 I just LOVE these new journals! When Dragonsite announced that they were making journals I was eagerly waiting ... and waiting ... and waiting ... finally, after almost 8 months of production delays they are in and they are absolutely spectacular and well worth the wait. They're already selling incredibly well, with new designs coming soon!
 *6/12/09 New Harmony Kingdom! Check out the 2009 Santa and Black Box, plus a new Dragon, Pig, Sea Turtles and even Mudskippers! So cool!
*5/20/09 Soooo? Have you played with the new toy yet? I'm so excited to have a Search Engine up now! It still has a few bugs that we're working out and a few things to fix, but it's a heck of a lot better than not having a search engine, right? Now while you're playing with that, I'm off to my next project. Can I just say I hate Spring Cleaning?

This week we got in new Harmony Kingdom, new Pot Bellys, new Adam Binder, and new Painted Ponies. Everything but the ponies are up and ready to order, the ponies should be up in the next day or two.  *2/12/09 So, Valentine's Day is coming. Have you found your frog, crossed your fingers and puckered up? Or are you using it as an excuse to eat a lot of chocolate. Don't worry, you don't ever need an excuse around me. Chocolate, it's not just for breakfast anymore around my house!
*2/4/09 Ah, I love my customers. The good, the bad, the ... indescribable. Last week I had a woman open my front door halfway, stick her head in and holler, "are you open?" I had to work hard not to say, "No we're not. That's why the door's unlocked, all the lights are on, and all these other customers are in here." Instead I bit my tongue, smiled and invited her in.
 Just before Christmas I was talking to this woman and her daughter who were in to shop. After a very strange conversation, the woman wound up saying to me, "you must not be as old as you look." Ouch. Excuse me while I go shoot myself. What do you even say to something like that? I confess I was pretty speechless.
My favorite customer lately was the 8 year old faerie shopper in with her dad. I was trying to explain something about faerie line to the dad, which he wasn't agreeing with. Finally the little girl looked up at him and said, "Dad, Jules is the expert. She knows what she's talking about." I had to work really hard not to rush around the counter, gather her up and hug her silly.
As the saying goes, kids say the darndest things ... and that is one really smart kid!
So, since I'm the expert, is there anything I can help you with?

 *1/28/09 Is it cold there? Cause it is COLD here! I know it's Winter, but it's all snowy and icy and really really cold ... Okay, I suppose I shouldn't complain too much, even with wind chill we're in the double digits today. That's something, right? *shiver* I'm on my way to dig out my car, so while I'm gone grab a sweater and some wool socks, and when I get back we'll see if huddling together for warmth helps, okay? Just don’t try to hog the blankets or things are gonna get ugly. ; )

*1/15/09 Home again home again, Jiggity Jog ... It hit 80 in California on Sunday. I'm at a current high of 17 back home in WV. *whiiiiiiiiiiiiiine* I mean, I know it's Winter and all, but this is awful! I started sneezing on the flight back, and am sick again already. YUCK!
Okay, enough about that, here's some good news: I just got in a new shipment of Harmony Kingdom that I'm unpacking today!
*1/5/09 Happy New Year! I hope yours was just wonderful. I'm celebrating the start of my new year by heading off to sunny California for a week to visit my city mouse family. LOL I'm so fed up with this dreary, cold, windy weather, and it's going to be high 60s and low 70s for me for the next week! Woo Hoo! While I'm gone of course I'll still be reachable by e-mail since anyone who knows me will tell you I could never be away from my computer for a week without going into withdrawal. In the store Jill will be taking care of things, so everything should still be as smooth as ever. I'm off to bake cookies and pack, have a great week!

*12/10/08 Country Mouse vs. City Mouse ...
I was talking to my cousin last  night, telling her about the Chamber of Commerce membership reception I recently attended here in town. Her first question was, "Who goes to a Chamber of Commerce reception?" I explained that usually just about all of the business owners in town attended, and since I'd had to miss it the last few years due to other commitments, even though I wasn't feeling good that night I drug myself out to see friends and enjoy the wonderful food provided by Tari's.
My cousin works for the family business, a plumbing supply company in Santa Monica, CA, and she was amazed at the thought that so many business owners would show up to a Chamber of Commerce function. I suppose it's a little different out there. Here in our small town I can look around the room and even if I don't know every name, I usually know just about every business they belong to. I don't think the same could be said out there!
It's also neat to see local shoppers out enjoying the chance to find unique items right in their own back yard. I understand that sometimes you just have to go to a mall to find something specific, but when you don't have to fight the mall traffic, and crowds, why not shop where you get personal service from someone who actually cares? I do my best to make sure that the same level of service comes across even when you're shopping online. Sure, you might need to go to Amazon to get the latest DVD or that cool new gadget, and I'll be doing my own order from them soon too, but when you need something unusual, something different, this is the place to shop! We're going to the post office almost every day, and if something is in stock we currently have a turn around time of only a few days. *12/1/08 So I had an interesting experience today. I was getting ready to place an advertisement featuring one of my so-cute-you-wanna-squish-them 'My Little Piggy' pigs. The guy on the other end didn't seem to like the ad, and when I asked why he said, "I just don't like the Santa Pig. I'm Jewish."
My response was, "Well so am I, but that doesn't mean that the pig's not cute."
He seemed almost hurt by my using the Santa, and while a part of me felt bad that I had upset him, the other part was asking, "seriously?"
It's interesting to me because I grew up celebrating both Christmas and Hannukah, being half and half myself. As an adult I find myself identifying myself more as Jewish, but I decorate a Christmas tree right next to the table that displays my menorah, and I couldn't tell you the last time I was in either a temple or a church.
 It gets exhausting this time of year, doesn't it? Everyone is sensitive about something. Maybe I'm just not concious enough or I'd know to get offended more often! Darn, all those opportunities wasted.
Now, I certainly don't want to offend anyone, but come on, it's a Santa Pig, how offensive can that be? Am I going to hear from PETA next?
Tonight I was creating a little pic to put on the front page that links to our Holiday greeting. (And the fact that I'm calling it a 'Holiday greeting' instead of anything specific shows you something too.) I added a piece of holly and made the letters green and red, which looked pretty.
Hmm, I wonder who 'pretty' is going to offend today.

*11/7/08 As the Pot Bellys go, so goes the nation?  We'll have to remember this one. While the pundits were using exit polls, bar graphs, pie charts, touch screens, and every form of multi-media known to man and womankind, I was able to accurately predict our new president by watching which Pot Belly outsold the other! Obama outsold McCain, 4.5 - 1 since July when Obama was released as a Pot Belly. This is even with Obama being sold out in the store for months due to it selling out with Harmony Ball. I finally got my large back order in on Tuesday, and they are already sold out again here on Friday! (This time, sadly, until February!) I guess it just goes to show, these little guys are more than just cute and collectable, they're also better than any of the news show talking heads.
A heck of a lot quieter too!
 *11/1/08 Okay, would someone please explain how the heck it got to be November already? I mean, seriously, it was just Summer a few weeks ago, wasn't it? I'm starting to get ready for the Holiday rush, and making plans for our Anniversary celebration. The day I bought the store was 10/13, but we've always celebrated it Thanksgiving weekend with cookies and other treats. Can you believe that that's only a few weeks away? Amazing, right? Okay, enough moaning and groaning, this week's update is to tell you about the beautiful new Faerie Glen Faerie boxes that have just arrived. They are even more beautiful than in their pictures, and so delicate that they won't hold much! The perfect place to hide a note or money or something equally tiny, these delightful boxes are sure to be a hit! See the New Treasure Boxes Here!
*10/22/08 It got COLD! Apple Butter weekend it was 90 degrees here, and today, a week and a half later, it's a high of 54. *shiver* I guess that means that Winter is on it's way, as is holiday shopping. Do you know that I actually had a customer in my store the other day who was finishing her Christmas shopping? I almost didn't want to let her have her purchases, it just seemed un-natural!

*10/2/08 It's Fall! How did that happen? I swear this Summer has just flown by and it's amazing to see that the trees are already turning and I've had to dig out my jackets and boots for the nip in the air. We're getting ready for our town's big event, the Apple Butter Festival, coming up October 11th & 12th in Berkeley Springs. Arts & Crafts, Games, Food, the Beard & Mustache contest, the Egg Race, and most importantly the Apple Butter. Our street is closed off for the festival and Apple Butter is made in giant kettles right in the middle of the street! The smell of apples cooking is everywhere. Doesn't that sound like fun? Well okay it is, but it's also a lot of work, so we're already running around getting everything ready. I help by trying to make sure the biggest shipments come in when my employees are working so they have to deal with them.

 *Do I really have to put up a date? *sigh* Fine then: 5/29/08 Yes, I know it's been ten months since I updated. Jeez, you guys are worse than my mother! (Love you mom!) The thing is, is that this web site is currently sitting at over 1000 pages and over 5000 images. Do you have any idea how much time that takes to keep up with? By the time I'm done adding new merchandise, taking down the old, updating and arranging so all of you lovely people can order it, I'm way too exhausted to update the 'what's new' page! Please know that even if this page hasn't been updated regularly, the site is updated almost every day. That's right, you heard me, I'm like the mailman, neither rain, nor sleet, nor my infrequent days off, keep me from updating this site. Really. I'm hoping they find a medication for it soon.
*7/31/07 So I have REALLY exciting news! Well ... it's exciting to me, not sure if it does anything for anyone else, but I'M really excited! lol In April of 2004 I posted on this page that we had shipped to every state except for Hawaii, and that anyone ordering from Hawaii would receive free shipping. It's taken three years, but I can finally say that I've shipped to every state! In the last 24 hours I've received not one, but TWO orders from Hawaii! They have both received free shipping and my thanks for now being able to say
"We have now shipped to every state!"

As ya'll can see, I haven't been so good about doing that recently, but I've turned over a new leaf, made a new years resolution ... in October ... changed my colors, etc. etc. Anyone wanna take bets on how long that lasts? LOL Anyway, on with the show ...
So it's October in Berkeley Springs. Probably in most other parts of the world too, but I can only testify to our little corner of it. Today was one of those chilly, rainy fall days where the leaves slop against the windows and the world drips. As I sat in my warm little store and looked out at it, I realized that much as we'd all like to deny it, the holidays are just around the corner. Isn't that awful? It seems like it comes faster and faster every year. I actually had a woman in who was finishing her Christmas shopping with me. Finishing! I haven't even thought about starting mine. I guess some people are just more organized than I am, but this page is called What's New, not What Else is new! LOL
So onto the good stuff. The wonderful people who make Eycatchers® just came out with the newest line, Eyllusions™. Built like two Eycatchers® put together so they look like an x if you're looking down at it, these are aMAZing. My personal favorite is the Sunburst, but they're all beautiful. They've also just come out with Small and MinEy™ Gazing Balls, and a new color, Midnight Red, a deep dark red with sparkling accents. They also just created new MinEys™ in the signs of the Zodiac that are now up. Speaking of the holidays ... these would make GREAT gifts!

*2/7/05 Dezine has gone bye bye! Sadly, Dezine, makers of the wonderful Fairies and Pixies, have disappeared. I hope that someday they reappear, but until then my supply of fairies is dwindling by the day. I'm trying to keep the web site updated with what we're sold out of, and order soon if there's something you just have to have. Then check back soon to see what I find to take their place!
