Secrets:
Bears are so lucky! A day’s salmon fishing in Scotland would cost us humans a small fortune. And bears don’t even have to get a license. Master carver Peter Calvesbert, an avid fisherman, is jealous. We’ve all seen documentaries of bears scooping salmon from rivers, so Peter wondered how a bear cub would cope if there were too many fish to deal with. In “Sushi Bar”, nine lucky salmon manage to escape the bear’s clutches but a tenth is about to leap straight into his paw. So many wildlife programmes these days show animals wearing radio collars to help research and tracking, so Peter thought it was about time one of his animals had one too. Another sign of man’s presence is the beer can floating down the river. Inscribed on the lid is the bear’s Latin name. HK collector Mary K. DeMayo also receives mention as a thank you for always remembering Peter’s birthday. Lift the lid to see a fish with a bear-sized bite missing.
