Recipes

So those who know me, know I really enjoy creating in my kitchen.  Be it new cookie recipes, drinks, or occasionally even real food, I like a day I can just relax in the kitchen.  Some of those recipes I'm afraid I have to keep to myself (you should have heard the discussion when my mother wanted my chocolate chip cookie recipe!) but usually I'm more than happy to share.  So, keep an eye out and bookmark this page, this is where to find some of the recipes I've made for events in my store and have had requests to share.

December 2018 - Up first, here in Berkeley Springs we just had our first ever Cocoa Crawl!  It was so much fun, every participating business had a different flavor of cocoa and people could walk from shop to shop and sample all the different kinds of cocoa.  So to tell you how I chose my flavor, I have to tell you that this year for Mom and I has been the year of Salted Caramel.  At the beach we ate Salted Caramel Ice Cream with Salted Caramel truffles.  Then we discovered that there's such a thing as Salted Caramel Vodka.  Suddenly I knew what kind of cocoa to make!  Mmmmm ... :)

December 2021 Update - We no longer serve it with vodka at the Crawl - the local ABC people frowned upon it - but our Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate has become a favorite.  I think if we changed flavors at this point there might be a riot!

Jules' Nice (or Naughty) Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Recipe

12 Cups of Hot Water

12 Packets of Swiss Miss (when you're serving 1100, starting from scratch goes out the window, but this doesn't taste like packet hot chocolate, promise!)

1/2 Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

3 Cups Salted Caramel Sauce (I used this incredible recipe here)

Optional Naughty Version:  Add 1.5 Cups of Salted Caramel Vodka, or to personal preference.

Serve with whipped cream and extra Salted Caramel Sauce drizzled over the top, then multiply by enough for 1100 people if you're serving the Cocoa Crawl!  ;)
