Black as night. This black Hoptimist cat isn’t the type to bring bad luck – quite the opposite. It brings joy and little bounces that make everyday life a bit more fun. A delightful gift idea for anyone who loves cats. Even the real cat in the house will probably be unable to resist giving the new playmate a gentle nudge. With a strong belief in the power of smiles, Gustav Ehrenreich founded his happy Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The aim was to create a figurine that would serve as a constant reminder to stay positive and optimistic. Today, the happy Hoptimists are part of Danish design history and they spark joy all over the world. The figurines are available in four different sizes and in a wide range of colours that spread plenty of playfulness, cheer and happiness. There is a Hoptimist for every occasion and every person.

One of my favorite things about owning a gift shop is finding things I didn't even know I needed... until suddenly I can't imagine not having them around.

Funny enough, I can't take credit for discovering these.

A member of the Jules family accidentally ended up at a gift show. (Don't ask. It's a long story. 😂) He came home with this little smiling, springy guy and plopped him down on my desk.

For months, every time I was thinking too hard, answering emails, or just needed a tiny mental reset, I'd reach over and give him a little sproing.

And every single time... I'd smile.

That's it. That's the magic.

So when we finally had the perfect spot in the shop, I knew exactly what my next order was going to be.

Meet Hoptimists.

These cheerful little characters were created in Denmark by Hans Gustav Ehrenreich in the late 1960s with one wonderfully simple mission: make people smile. They bounced their way into hearts decades ago, and honestly... I get it now.

They're the perfect little desk buddy, bookshelf companion, office mascot, or "I saw this and immediately thought of you" gift. They don't light up, play music, or do anything fancy.

They just sit there looking ridiculously happy until someone can't resist giving them a little bounce.

Sproing.

See? You smiled, didn't you?

Maybe that's why I love them so much. We all have enough serious in our lives. Sometimes we just need a tiny, ridiculously happy little friend whose whole job is reminding us to smile.

And I think the world could use a little more of that. 💛
