The pug dog is an intriguing breed of ancient Oriental lineage. The Chinese especially valued those pugs that had three deep wrinkles on the forehead, forming part of the symbol for “Prince.” Distinctive and friendly, with deep, soulful eyes, pugs have been popular with monarchs from England’s William and Mary to France’s Marie Antoinette. Within this limited edition box figurine, a happy cat rubs his tummy after a delicious fish supper. Still, the mouse next to her looks a bit anxious as he thinks he may be next on the menu.
