Secrets:
The leader of this happy parade of elephants was named after the Indian god Ganesa, who is known as the “Lord of and Destroyer of all Obstacles.” He is also the god of knowledge, wisdom, education, literature and the fine arts. The monkeys are in a particularly irreverent, coconut-throwing mood. Their disrespect proves their earth-bound foolishness and perhaps reminds us that the monkey is one animal few would call wise. The raised trunks of the elephants are a sure sign of good luck. On the interior, a pile of tusks are labeled “Not for sale,” since the ivory trade has been banned for many years.
