Secrets:
This box figurine is the second dragon portrayal carved by Peter in year 2000, the first being a netsUKe. Peter’s seeming obsession with the dragon is due to 2000 being the Year of the Dragon. Dragon years according to the Chinese astrological calendar are daring and outspoken times and more than a little unpredictable. While in the Far East, dragons are symbols of good luck and health; they also have a fiery side and command lightning and storms. Since dragon tattoos seem to be all the rage among the human set, this dragon sports a tattoo on his right arm that looks suspiciously like the artist. A very brave mouse has left footprints all around the base and takes refuge under the fire-breather’s arm. The interior of Version 1 depicts the skeleton of St. George, the Christian martyr and patron of England, who, according to legend, slew a fearsome dragon. Inside Version Infinity you’ll find St. George, with the St. George cross on his chest plate.
